The FTSE 100 has started the week beginning Monday, July 15, 2024, on the back foot, with the index falling 0.58% to 8,205.45 just after the opening bell. On Friday, London’s blue-chip index rose 0.36%, gaining 29.57 points, climbing to 8252.91.

EARNINGS RELEASES & ECONOMIC EVENTS

The first part of the week there is little to go on in terms of UK economic releases, but from Wednesday, things ramp up, starting with UK inflation data. Then, on Thursday, unemployment data is released, and on Friday, retail sales data is reported.

The UK corporate diary is busy again this week. Names such as Ocado, AJ Bell, B&M, and more are set to provide updates to the market as we enter Q2 earnings season in the US, where we can expect earnings releases to also increase.
