Chinese online entertainment firm Bilibili’s (NASDAQ: BILI) shares are rising on Wednesday after it was revealed that the company will be teaming up with the BBC to make a six-part documentary series exploring the history of Eastern and Western civilisations.
The BBC announced the series, saying it will use “stunning documentary visuals and stylish CGI to tell the extraordinary story of the world’s greatest ancient cultures on one epic timeline, stretching back 5,000 years.”
The new series's co-production follows the announcement in October of a multi-year strategic corporation agreement between Bilibili and BBC Studios.
“This new series reflects the deeper level of partnership between BBC Studios and Bilibili, as we collaborate to produce world-leading documentaries which resonate with audiences in China and across the world,” commented Tom McDonald, Director of Factual at BBC Studios.
The series is currently in preparation for production.
Bilibili shares are currently trading at $91.68, up 11.19% on the day. On Tuesday its stock price closed at $82.49.
