Games Workshop Shares Climb After Reaching Final Agreement with Amazon For Warhammer Adaptation

Games Workshop (LON: GAW) shares opened higher Tuesday after the company said it has now reached a final agreement with Amazon Content Services for the adaption of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe into films and television series. 

The company's shares are currently up around 1% Tuesday, trading around the 14,080p mark. The stock initially opened up at 14,300p a share. This year, it has gained over 42%.

Amazon Content Services, a subsidiary of Amazon, has also agreed on creative guidelines with the company as well as associated merchandising rights. 

Games Workshop initially announced an agreement with Amazon in December 2023. 

The company said today it has granted exclusive rights to Amazon in relation to films and television series set within the Warhammer 40,000 universe, together with an option for Amazon to license equivalent rights in the Warhammer Fantasy universe following the release of the initial Warhammer 40,000 production. 

However, the company noted that production processes in respect of films and television series may take a number of years and it has made no change to its forecast for the 52-week period ending 1 June 2025.
