HPE Unveils Solution for Easier Private 5G Networks

In a significant development for enterprises considering the adoption of next-generation cellular technology, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) has introduced the HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G solution. This new product aims to drastically simplify the deployment and management process of private cellular networks, which is often considered a major barrier to their widespread enterprise adoption.

The innovative offering is an integrated 4G/5G networking service built to complement HPE Aruba's established Wi-Fi products. This move is set to support enterprises that are eyeing the benefits of private cellular networks, such as improved control over their wireless environment and enhanced security, while maintaining the convenience of traditional Wi-Fi.

Stuart Strickland, the wireless CTO at HPE Aruba Networking, emphasised the company’s dedication to creating scalable and simplified solutions. This strategy comes in response to customer feedback and the industry's need for more streamlined network management approaches. HPE Aruba aims to eliminate the complexities traditionally associated with private cellular networks.

Central to HPE's vision is the seamless integration of private 5G infrastructure management with their existing Wi-Fi management platforms. This integration intends to offer a unified client experience, highlighted by consistent identities and streamlined access to resources across both wireless ecosystems.

The HPE Aruba Networking Enterprise Private 5G solution is designed to be interoperable with shared spectrum that is allocated for private enterprise use. For instance, in the United States, the Citizen Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum is one such shared resource. The solution is also anticipated to be compatible with similar frameworks in other countries where regulations support the deployment of private cellular networks.

Among the various use cases for combining private 5G networks with Wi-Fi, industries are particularly interested in scenarios that require broader area coverage or specific network scheduling features that ensure determinism in communication. Private 5G infrastructure also allows organisations to establish isolated networks tailored to different operational requirements, adding another layer of flexibility and segmentation to their existing network environments.
